WHAT?
What is Outdoor and Adventure Recreation?
·         Includes a range of leisure, recreation, cultural or sporting activities
·         Undertaken in natural, heritage, rural and urban open space
·         Offers opportunity for improved mental and physical wellbeing, educational gains, social development, building an area’s identity and understanding our environment
·         Offers value to all parts of our community at all stages of life

Outdoor Education:
·         Impels participants into challenging and demanding situations requiring effort, determination, co-operation and self-reliance
·         A holistic form of education that can assist in education of the person as a whole; academically, physically, emotionally, socially and psychologically, providing opportunities to apply knowledge in real-life situations and enhancing the understanding of the relationship between humans and the natural environment
·         Programs within the school curriculum are said to be of valuable assistance as they operate outside the limitations that govern traditional and formal teaching and learning in schools by aiming to promote the development of the whole person as a social individual being, in a balanced and integrated fashion
·         The holistic approach challenges current forms of schooling which are considered to be competitively preparing their students for final exams, and placing vocational outcomes and tertiary entrance scores as paramount, rather than giving their students a total life experience to assist in the development of the person as whole

WHY?
·         A lack of school funding means that programs such as these are lost to the community
·         The cost of Community Center Programming is keeping youth from participating
·         Our experienced and energetic Instructors instil passion in our environment and a healthy lifestyle, encouraging advancement of skills, allowing all participants their opportunity to be a leader!
·         Create a strong culture of Adventure in our Community!
·         All proceeds will go directly to Youth Outdoor Recreation and Conservation programming in our schools and our Community Center, including Kayaking, Hiking, Biking, Rappelling, Adventure Based Learning Group Development and Leadership!
