Understanding that climbing involves touching of climbing holds within the climbing space, climbing gyms have unique challenges as the wall/holds, cannot be cleaned between each use (it is unfortunately impossible).
Risk management is a top priority in the business of indoor climbing though the risks of Covid-19 are fundamentally different from the inherent risk of climbing. In addition to your safety, the experience our climbers and community have when they visit us is extremely important to us. We are actively working on the best ways to achieve the best of both.
Due to the current Covid-19 situation our climbing gym operation has changed. Gym sessions must be pre-booked in order to follow strict health and safety protocols for proper social distancing and sanitizing procedures. Online bookings will be available soon. In the mean time please give us a call for more information and to book a session.

How it works
Due to Covid, we are running at limited capacity and spaces must be booked in advance. In order to do so we have created timeslots that must be booked in advance. You don’t have to pay when you call but you have to reserve your spot(s).
We have two areas: Climbing Gym area and Moonboard area. The Moonboard area is not ready yet but we will be working hard over the next few weeks to get it going!

Rules of the climbing gym for day use during the covid pandemic
Booking Procedures
»Every climber must pre-book a spot for their visit. We will accept walk-ins, but only if we have space available. Keep in mind that walk-in sessions may be shorter than you expect as we have to respect the start time of the next timeslot so we highly recommend calling ahead.
»Only 1 session per day can be booked in each facility. 1 in the climbing gym and 1 in the moon board/training area.
»Bookings must be kept to a maximum of 4/week per facility to allow space for everyone.
»If you are booking for a group of 3 or more, the person booking will be held responsible for the entire group booking as per policies outlined below.
»You cannot book more than 7 days in advance to avoid cancellations and missed booking opportunities.
»If you feel sick, have any flu symptoms or have been exposed to Covid do not come to the gym. We will be asking guests health questions at the door.
»Overbookings subject to cancelation without notice. We of course will always aim to avoid this situation.
Bookings Policies
»3 strike policy: If you book a space in a specific time slot and you don’t show up, after 3 times we will charge you a drop-in fee. This fee we be donated to Skaha Park watch.
»If you are late for your climbing session, we will wait 15 minutes, after that, your spot will be open for another climber.
»Time slots are 1.5 to 1.75 hours long. If you show up late is your responsibility to know you still need to leave when the time slot ends.
»If you want to cancel your booking, please call us a minimum of 6 hours ahead.
»If you purchase a day use will not be refunded but we will give you a credit.
At the Gym
»We encourage the use of Liquid Chalk.
»Social distancing is mandatory in mixed groups.
»Use of masks are highly encouraged in mixed groups.
»Everyone must sanitize their hands when entering the building, wash your hands before climbing and before you leave.
»You must bring your own water bottle.
What we offer:
- Courses: For the newbies, we offer an introductory climbing course and a family introduction course, and for people who just need to brush up their skills, we provide a belay refresher course.
- Bouldering: At our facility, we have 15-foot high bouldering walls for your solo climbing endeavours. No ropes and special skills are required to do this.
- Ropes: We offer top-ropes only to people who are looking to partner up with a friend or climb with their kids. You can ask any of our professionals to put them up for you. If you need to learn about the usage of ropes, please contact us. Our trained professionals provide private belay service with 48 hours’ notice (see pricing below).
All climbers must sign our waiver. No exceptions will be accepted. Children under 12 years must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times while dropping into the gym.

$15 per person for the whole day. This includes your drop-in climbing pass and a beer at the Cannery Brewing Co. across the street.

school groups
Rock climbing helps kids to learn how to conquer fears, problem solve, develop strength, coordination, confidence, and support one another. No matter your physical ability, you can find some measure of success in rock climbing.
2-hour climbing program
- When you choose this, our team will come to pick you and your class up and bring you all to the climbing gym for a 1.5-hour climbing session (2 hours including shuttling.) This session covers climbing techniques, safety, equipment, rope work and fun games with passionate leaders.
- $16/student – including transport (up to 27 passengers)
1-hour bouldering session
- In this program, kids will be shown some basic climbing techniques, and will then be free to climb whatever they want in our climbing gym. Bouldering doesn’t involve rope work. So, this would be a great option if your timeline is tight, as the kids will get more climbing and less talking.
- $10/student
8 Punch Pass
- Start a climbing program and get them in our gym more than once. At our facility, you will be able to book dates well in advance and it can be spread throughout the school year. The kids will be shown different climbing techniques and we will get on the mats and coach them throughout the 8 sessions so they can improve their skills during the 1.5-hour long session.
- $85/student for 8 sessions
Intro to Climb
- The topics including in this program are safety, equipment, belaying, communication and commands, climbing techniques, knot tying and more. We can do one session or if you want to go into more depths and get their skills to the next level we can do two sessions on two different days. These sessions go on for 2.5 hours with about 2 hours of instructions. For bigger groups, we split them and rotate between learning stations. And we, of course, we make sure that they get some climbing done as well.
- $15/student/session – can be followed by an outing at the Skaha Bluffs (ask us about pricing for this).
***All climbing equipment and rentals are included in the prices. These prices are based on a minimum of 10 participants. If you have less than 10 then a minimum charge will apply for the activity. These activities are available inside and outside of our regular opening hours. Just name the date and time that you would like and we’ll try our best to make it happen!
After school Youth Climbing Groups

This program mainly focuses on older kids who are looking to develop their skills and become better climbers. This is a highly structured program compared to our after-school clubs. While we do have fun, we focus on building climbing skills, techniques, strength, proper movement, problem-solving skills, confidence, endurance, and much more. Get your fill of climbing on Fridays, you can climb for as long as you want!
Minimum: 5 youths

All gym-based programs require the following forms to be completed. They only need to be completed once, and the same will be securely stored and used for future reference. Additional paperwork is required for kids enrolling in full-day or overnight programming.

birthday parties & special events
birthday parties - we are currently not taking birthday bookings while provincial health orders for "no group gatherings" is in place. Please check back after dec. 7th
- Please watch the above video to see what a birthday party looks like at Hoodoo this season with our new precautions in place. Things look a little different but we are still just as excited to celebrate with you!
- Birthday parties are 1.5 hours long. The first hour will be spent just climbing and playing games supported by our awesome staff! After that, kids can take time to open presents at a table and seating area that will be right in the climbing gym for you. We will provide a table, seating and a birthday banner. Please feel free to bring more decorations!
- To limit little hands in and around the mouth as much as possible, especially after climbing, we are prohibiting food consumption in the building at this time. Of course cake and food is often the best part of the party, so we recommend you still blow out a candle and cupcakes can be handed out with goody bags as kids leave the party. For great cake and meal options to add to your climbing party, we have put together a package deal for our birthday party families below...

Due to the current Covid-19 Health Regulations pandemic, birthday parties have been modified. They are now held in a private setting.
We will close the gym to host your group to ensure everyone’s safety and well being.

Gym rules
- Absolutely no food or drinks in the climbing area.
- Help clear the air – only liquid chalk is allowed in our facility.
- No horseplay (running, jumping, skipping, rope pulling, etc).
- Kids under age 16 must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
- Only climbing shoes and sock feet will be allowed in the climbing area. No street shoes and no bare feet allowed anywhere in the facility.
- Climb only on dedicated terrain.
- Report any broken or loose holds to staff.
- No rings or jewelry – long hair should be tied back.
- For your safety, be aware of other climbers.
- Please be courteous and respectful to other climbers.
- If using top ropes users must pass a belay test in order to use the ropes.
Any and all participants at the climbing gym must sign a waiver. If you are under the age of 18, you must have a waiver signed by a parent/guardian (with legal responsibility for that minor). If you do not have a waiver, you cannot participate. Please contact us if you have any questions about this matter.
